DR STAMPER SUSPENDED

Eastern Cape MEC for Health, Dr Bevan Goqwana, (November 1, 2000) suspended the departments permanent secretary, Dr Siphiwo Stamper, with
immediate effect following allegations of financial misconduct. Dr Stamper is alleged to have breached the Public Finance Management Act

Dr Stamper has been suspended, with full pay, in terms of paragraph 7.2 (a) of the Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council
Resolution No.2 of 1999. The suspension follows preliminary investigations into the financial management of the department.

The suspension will enable this department to carry out the investigation without any possible interference, said Dr Goqwana.

Nobody has been appointed to act on his behalf and the MEC will take the responsibility of delegating certain functions to the programme
managers.
